Bernhard Langer Shoots A 69 On Sunday, Holds Off Nick Price To Become The 2010 Boeing Classic Champion

With the calm and precision befitting a champion, Bernhard Langer steadily made his way through TPC Snoqualmie Ridge on Sunday, holding off Nick Price on his way to a 3-under 69 to become the 2010 Boeing Classic Champion. For the tournament Langer shot -18 (198), tying the tournament record for Best 54 holes established by 2009 winner Loren Roberts.

Langer completes the Northwest sweep with a win today at the Boeing Classic after picking up the U.S. Senior Open title just three weeks ago at Sahalee. He also becomes just the third player to win two tournaments in the same metropolitan area during the same year. With the win Langer moves to over $2 million in earnings for the year.

Couples Gives The Gallery Plenty To Cheer About

Hometown favorite Fred Couples finished strong in the final round on Sunday as he birdied two of his last three holes to finish his final round 5-under par and in sole possession of third place. Couples steadily moved up the leaderboard throughout the day and finished at 9-under for the tournament.

Fans can look forward to seeing Freddie back in Seattle again next year. After his final round he told reporters: I am going to play here every single year, that’s a given.

A Sunday Crowd Of 30,000 Helps The Boeing Classic Establish A New Record Attendance For The Week

It was another big day at the 2010 Boeing Classic as fans crowded the course to see hometown favorite Fred Couples as well as the other big names on the leaderboard vie for the Championship trophy. An estimated attendance of 30,000 watched Bernhard Langer capture the title, equaling the best Sunday crown in tournament history and establishing a new attendance record for Tournament Week with 78,000.

The attendance figures include a record crowd of 20,000 on FREE FRIDAY, a best for Saturday with 25,000, the championship Sunday crowd of 30,000 and approximately 3,000 for amateur events earlier in the week.

Going For The Green Pros Become Part Of The Canyon Club At 14

The popular fourteenth hole was fun to watch all week. On Day Three of the Boeing Classic, just 19 of the 77 player field decided to challenge the canyon. Of those who went for it, 8 of the 19 were rewarded with birdies, and six with pars. Chip Beck and Jerry Pate both ended up in the canyon on their tee shots and each recorded double-bogeys.

The beginning of the week saw players jockeying for position on the leaderboard with exactly two thirds of the field going for it on the first day. For the tournament, 116 players went for the green and 116 players laid up short.

Of the players who went for it there were 33 birdies, 60 pars, 13 bogeys, and 10 double-bogeys. Tournament winner Bernhard Langer recorded two birdies and a par by laying up in the fairway all three times.

The Heart Of The Boeing Classic-Tournament Volunteers

It wouldn’t be possible to host such a tremendous event without the effort, dedication and support of the tournament volunteers and volunteer coordinators. More than 950 individuals gave their time to be a part of the Boeing Classic and do their part to give back to the Greater Seattle community.
