MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOEING CLASSIC’S MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY

The Army Sergeant will walk with the final group on Sunday, August 28 at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge

The Boeing Classic has announced that Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Petry will participate in the tournament’s very first Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, August 28. During the tournament’s final round, Petry will walk behind the ropes with the leaders in final group and will participate in the Champion Trophy Ceremony on the 18th Green.

The Boeing Classic’s Military Appreciation Day will honor those who have fought to protect our country in nearly all aspects of the day’s events at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. In addition to receiving free admission and hospitality, military personnel will play a vital role in several of the tournament’s events and operations. Sgt. 1st Class Petry is the second living Medal of Honor recipient from Afghanistan and is currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

 

The Boeing Classic is an Official Event on the PGA TOUR Champions Tour, which features the legends of golf 50 years of age or older. The winner of the 2010 Presidents Award honoring the best event on the Champions Tour, in the tournament’s six-year history, nearly 3.2 million dollars has been raised for the Heart Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center, the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason and additional Greater Seattle Charities. The 2011 event will be played August 22-28 at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. Highlights during the week include the Rumble at the Ridge (August 22), the First Tee Youth Clinic (August 23) and the Korean Air Pro-Am (August 24-25).
